The synthesis of novel chemiluminescent materials with properties fundamentally different from existing materials is proposed. One category involves combining known efficient chemiluminescent systems into single molecules with excellent known fluors, which should provide high quantum yields with flexible monitoring possibilities. A second category involves the synthesis of completely new types of compounds for investigation of their chemiluminescent properties. All materials will be tested for chemiluminescence and potential as molecular probes.
