Summary on Grant Application Form
The risk of explosion incidients in even greater now with increased usage and transportation of flammable products. Accident explosions at work places and in major process engineering installations cause unplanned destruction, human injury and death. the purpose of this research programme is to investigate the dynamic structural response to explosion loading by carefully experiments on simple structural members and theoretical modelling. The insight and improved understanding which emerges from these studies will be used to develop more versatile design methods for assessing the integrity and safety of a wide range of structures and engineering components subjected to blast loading.
