Summary on Grant Application Form |
The research will determine the methods used by collaborating companies to ensure that products meet customer needs. The research will identify the methods and place them within a model of the PD process that is applicable to each company. Considering methods as functions that receive, modify and output information, each method will be classified and its effectiveness in contributing to customer needs compliance measured. A method's contribution to the overall effectiveness of the PD process in the companies will also be assessed. The influence of factors like company size, product type, management structure, customer quality requirements and market factors will also be assessed. The collaborating companies have been chosen as being representative of a number of market/product segments on the basis of market share, growth, size and product technology content.Key Words: Design, Management, Product, Customer, Market
