Summary on Grant Application Form |
This project is to investigate the two key factors, i.e., wettability and saturation history, and their effects on resitivty index and capillary pressure curves of intermediate and mixed-wet reservoirs. It includes systematic laboratory measurement using oil/brine and crude oil/brine systems at elevated confining pressures, and 3D pore network modelling to aid an improved understanding of complex rock/fluid systems. The research findings should enhance the reliability of hydrocarbon saturation determinations particularly for flooded areas and transition zones and improve the reservoir simulation prediction of oil displacement by free water imbibition and/or water injection. The results will have important implications for IOR and late field management of a number of North Sea Reservoirs.
