Summary on Grant Application Form |
Recent research at Keele University has highlighted a new range of mill additives and surfactants which have been tested for activity and have shown greater effect than any materials presently used by industry. With the use of these new additives we expect to improve the rate and reproducibility of grinding, improve dispersion, prevent reagglomeration of fine ground materials and produce more stable glaze suspensions. At Keele, several candidate surfactants will be prepared from polymer precursors. These will be purified, characterised and screened as milling aids, using laser scattering and Coulter counter to measure particle size and agglomeration. This work will be done in close collaboration with Allied Colloids Ltd.
