Summary on Grant Application Form |
This project concerns the use of water- (or ethylene glycol-) soluble palladium catalysts. The catalysts will be mobile within the acqueous phase, which will be supported as a thin film on a controlled-pore glass bead. Investigations will be conducted on the use of these beads for the catalysis of organic reactions including Heck reactions and other palladium catalysed coupling reactions. Particular attention will be paid to the rate of such reactions and to the anticipated lower lev`els of leaching of catalyst into the bulk organic phase.
