Summary on Grant Application Form |
Many physical problems are governed by conservation laws which are specially targeted by the research proposed here. The research will enhance multidimentional simulation methods and provide options in modelling fluid and gas flows, of considerable importance in most discipline in the physical sciences. Multidimentional Upwinding will be applied to several application areas modelled by conservation laws, steady and unsteady, with special emphasis on grid adaptation. Wave models will be devised for applications to fluid flow and gas dynamics, based on recent decomposition ideas. Optimal grids will be constructed for modelling special flow features, via grid distortion and grid subdivision, on both structured and unstructured (or mixed) grids. the concepts of upwinding and positivity will be exploited to improve boundary conditions and to instigate mathematical analysis of errors ad convergence.
