Summary on Grant Application Form |
'Theory' - We have discovered recently that many of the new aspects of long-term behaviour change abruptly at certain critical parameter values. New insights and new methods of calculation must be found if these phenomena are to be understood.'Biology' - Even such classics as Murray's Mathematical Biology contain no probability, though the systems studied are intrinsically random. We wish to model a horrifying aspect of cancer spread, and important ecological models.'Physics' - We shall extend the applications of stochastic calculus.
