Summary on Grant Application Form
The modern theory of integrable models currently being developed had fascinating interconnections with many areas of theoretical physics and mathematics. The basic aim of this research project is to explore these, with particular reference to those models which arise in connection with string theories. String Theories, unified models of the forces of nature, are built from two-dimensional conformal field theories, which are themselves an important class of integrable models, My proposed research will also be work towards a unified understanding of integrable models in relation to topological quantum field theory, relating them to the more conventional study of geometric structures in mathematics. Light will also be thrown on the latter by the proposed investigation of the new algebras discovered in integrable models, in relation to thier realisions and with regard to their geometric understanding.
