Summary on Grant Application Form |
Th eproject aims to address some of the difficulties encounterex when designing surfaces using CAD systems. Usuakky CAD works with a rectangular topology for the array of patches. Gragory's work on arbitrary net interpolation is to be extended with and emphasis on ways of optimising the quality of the resulting surface. Algorithms for enhancing the quality of surfaces are to be devised. Procedures for exchanginf surface data between CAD systems often rely on specific forms in which that information has to be held. The project aims to establish neutral means for data transfer which rely on the geometry itself rather than on the form in which it is defined internally.
