Summary on Grant Application Form |
For the 'just in time' manufacture of coatings, it is desirable to deposit the coating to net-shape in one deposition step. This may often require non-uniform distributions of coatings around components. This work examines the use of non contact masks to tailor the distribution of PVD coatings. Computer models will be developed to predict deposition profiles, the design of mask shape and their manipulation to achieve the desired distribution.
