Summary on Grant Application Form |
Wankel rotary engines for light aircraft propulsion are high speed powerplants requiring a speed reducer to drive the propeller. The inertia of the propeller and engine masses create torsional vibrations so the reducer has to provide vibration absorption. This application will provide a novel speed reducer which will use eccentrically mounted gears operating as a planetary system to balance the planetary action of the Wankel rotor.
