|
We propose to investigate the formation of large single colloidal crystals in a model hard-sphere colloid, sterically stabilised PMMA, by imposing a variety of external fields: shear, temperature gradient and electric field. Structure formation will be probed by light scattering and direct observation in an optical microscope. Both monodisperse colloids and binary mixtures will be studied.
