Summary on Grant Application Form
The project will investigate the synthesis of a variety of polymers in the form of particulates, with a wide range of particles sizes, using various dispersion polycondensation methods. The latter will exploit conventional emulsion dispersion and inverse emulsion dispersion techniques as well as polymerisations of high internal phase emulsions (HIPES). The products will be characterised structurally, morphologically and thermally, and the prospects for exploitation as fillers and surface modifiers (in the case of sub-micron particulates) and use as supports and in separations (in the case of larger particulates) will be assessed.
