Summary on Grant Application Form |
The electronic effect in heterogeneous catalysis by metals will be investigated by use of variously specified quantum well (QW) structures as catalyst supports. Active phases will consist of ligand protected platinum metal clusters, and the activity measures will be the kenitic parameters for H2/D2 exchange. Theoretical calculations will guide the specification of QW structures and of cluster nuclearity. Attempts will be made to prepare higher area polycrystalline analogues of successful QW/cluster combinations for use as catalysts for reactions of industrial significance.
