Summary on Grant Application Form
It is proposed to build and fully characterise a new VUV (10-150 eV) beamline and station at EPSRC Daresbury Laboratory. The novel design which incorporates a spherical grating monochromator with three mirrors and gratings will provide a unique combination of high flux, resolution and selectable polarization over the entire energy range and will be highly suitable for both gas phase experiments and studies of material interfaces and surfaces. It is also proposed, after commissioning in the third year, to perform several flagship experiments which take advantage of the unique polarization features of the beamline.
