Summary on Grant Application Form
This project will investigate the reactive sintering approach to producing near fully dense austenitic stainless steel components by powder metallurgy processing. Work will centre on additives of Fe, Al and Ni to conventional stainless steel powders with the objective of producing compacts with densities of greater than 94% theoretical under normal compaction and sintering conditions. Components produced from optimised powder compositions will be assessed for their mechanical, wear and corrosion performances.
