Summary on Grant Application Form |
This application is for a 400 MHz multinuclear NMR spectrometer to be located in the Chemistry Department to provide the high field NMR facilities for a full range of research activities within the Department. The case embraces four distinct needs:+ to provide routine high resolution NMR characterisation for all of the research activities of the Organic group;+ to provide high field multinuclear capabilities for the Inorganic section but particularly the Fluorine group headed by Professor Holloway;+ to provide a suitable in-house instrument for Dr Norwood for dedicated NMR experiments that spread all the way from development of new NMR experiments;+ to biological applications of NMR spectroscopy;+ to explore the possible new applications of NMR spectroscopy eg in in situ electrochemical experiments (Professor Hillman).
