Establish metal-pipe-on-semiconductor waveguide technology.Demonstrate an oscillator in the waveguide with sufficient power to drive a mixer.Demonstrate a mixer in the waveguide.Combine the two to produce a down-converter and carry out a comprehensive series of measurements to assess performance. This work will be undertaken in 3 frequency bands at 90-140, 300-320 and 650-750 GHz. Demonstrate a mixer at 1.6 THz.
