Summary on Grant Application Form |
The purpose of the proposed programme is to study the problems associated with MMIC integration of ring resonator components. In particular, this will require study of methods of reducing the overall area covered by the resonator, in order to minimise cost. A number of different chip designs, aimed at representative system applications, will be designed using CAD.Theoretical analysis of the effects of loss compensation on the noise performance of filters and oscillators will be carried out. Chips incorporating the novel features introduced will be produced using the Eurochip MMIC foundry process. All chips will be subject to a detailed practical evaluation of their microwave performance.
