Summary on Grant Application Form
The overall purpose of this project is to consolidate and extend research into a novel hierarchical architecture for fuzzy logic monitoring and control of intravenous anasthesia with the following main objectives:1. Integrate Audio Evoked Response (AER) into clinical rule-bases for monitoring anaesthetic depth.2. To investigate the feasibility of online patient characterisation during induction for adaptation of maintenance regulation.3. Provide balanced analgesic supplementation for 'optimal' patient profiling.4. On-line fuzzy predictions of recovery times and drive systems.5. Develop a fuzzy model-based anasthesia simulator for training via non-animal models. As well as providing a research thrust into clinical decision-making & engineering, the project will contain important scientific benefits arising from clinical data gathering relating to neuropharmacology & evoked potential brain functioning,
