Summary on Grant Application Form |
The application is for a visiting fellowship for Professor W J Drugan. The collaboration seeks to combine Professor Willis' expertise in the theoretical constitutive modelling of linear and nonlinear composite materials, with Professor Drugan's background in nonlinear fracture mechanics. The aim is to begin development of a fundamental theoretical framework for the optimisation of nonlinear composite materials against failure by fracture. This has practical importance; foe example, the development of advanced materials will be one key to our nation's competitiveness in the future. The collaboration will open a new research area for the visiting fellow, theory for linear and nonlinear composite materials.
