Summary on Grant Application Form |
This is a fundamental investigation of the technology for rapid thermoplastic pultrusion, concentrating on glass/PP and glass/PA, but including one 'advanced' system, such as carbon/PEEK. A key aim is to understand the cooling and consolidation stage of the process. Thermal factors will be studied, using modelling and measurements, to define the product and die temperature range where die adhesion ceases. Work will be carried out on novel die designs to allow high speed processing while maintaining product consolidation.
