Summary on Grant Application Form |
The Computational Science group in the Department of Physics seeks support for the purchase of a parallel i860-based array dedicated to computational studies of magnetic materials. The main scientific aims are:1) To perform major micromagnetic simulations of nanocrystalline alloys in support of experimental work in this University. The simulations will investigate technically important properties in both hard and soft materials and their dependence on grain size, presence of multiple phases and grain boundaries, etc.2) To study a variety of cellular models of particulate magnetic systems with long range dipolar interactions.3) To achieve through computer simulation a better insight into the magnetic behaviour of thin films and multilayers.
