Summary on Grant Application Form |
To extend mechanistic studies and support crystallographic work on the two classes of dehydroquinase by:1. Identifying the carboxylate binding sites of the two types of enzyme.2. Identifying other active site residues in the type II enzyme.3. Developing in collaboration with Dr C Abell (Cambridge) class specific inhibitors for the enzymes.4. Using chemical modification and site-directed mutagenesis to study the mechanisms and active site chemistry of the two classes of enzyme.
