Summary on Grant Application Form |
We will study mixing in laminar flows via low-dimensional chaos using the framework of Hamiltonian dynamical systems. We will adapt established tools for Hamiltonian systems to investigate the transition to chaotic advection and calculate transport coefficients in the chaotic regime. The results will be used to interpret numerical and laboratory experiments of chaotic advection currently being carried out in our laboratory.
