Summary on Grant Application Form |
The current helium liquefaction facility is provided by a 9 year old Linde/ Sulzer TCF20/CS190. This plant must be run to its full capacity, including nitrogen precooling, to service the needs of our research groups, and frequently is unable to cope with fluctuations in demand. We propose, as part of an upgrade programme to replace the CS190 compressor with the larger DSB220 to give an approximate 60% production increase and to reduce our annual running costs by up to 20,000.
