Summary on Grant Application Form |
A numerical simulation of flow in boreholes and fluid losses during drilling is to be developed. the approach is to model microfiltration, annular flow in the borehole, and leakage flow into the surrounding formation separately taking account of the major characteristics of each process. Each process is influenced by and influences the others, and boundary conditions are time dependent; these interactions will be taken into account. The output from the project will be a computer simulation usable by the industry after an appropriate experimental programme to verify its predictions.
