Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of this part of the project is to extend the technology of Chromatic sensing via optical fibres to enable changes in spectral signatures produced by chemical reagents (which respond to various chemical species and which are being developed by the related part of this project by Dr Crowther) to be monitored. The research effort will be directed at developing a tristimulus (3 detectors) system having sufficient optical band width and spectral discrimination to monitor the chromatic changes produced by the reagents developed by Dr Crowther. A major objective will be to overcome the resolution limitations produced by the presence of a strong white light continuum on which the spectral change is anticipated to be superimposed. CAD packages developed at Liverpool are available as tools for undertaking this work.
