To develop an efficient, fully integrated, two dimensional finite element code capable of solving casting problems from mould fillings to the prediction of a final distorted shape of a cooled casting. Validation of this code will be carried out on four representative alloy/mould systems. Finally, the code will be user-friendly and easily accessible to foundry engineers.
