Summary on Grant Application Form |
The Concerted Action is directed towards improving the performance and versatility of controllers used in power electronic systems, by exploiting the speed and power of the latest digital signal processing devices. The work is being undertaken as part of the LINK PEDDS initiative and involves close collaboration with 11 industrial partners, who will contribute to the project by testing prototype controllers, assessing the potential for exploitation, and guiding the overall strategic direction of research. Particular areas of investigation are: development of a digital signal processor based controller; condition monitoring and fault detection; alternative devices and converter configurations; new controller and commissioning strategies; sensor reduction and elimination in power electronic converters and electric drives; study of approaches to implementation.
