(a)The visualisation of the fluid dynamical behaviour of various roll coaters: inlet-starved reverse; direct and off-set gravure - using high speed video with dye injection and novel computerised particle tracking techniques. (b)The study of the formation of coating defects together with an investigation of the fluid instabilities associated with the above and with inlet-starved forward roll coating.
