Novel fabrication methods will be used to manufacture functional thin films for optoelectronic applications, concentrating on: (1) laser re-melted Ge-Sn alloy single crystal thin films for infra-red applications; (2) co-sputered Si/SiO2, Ag/Si and In/SiO2 nanocomposite thin films; and (3) laser induced diffraction gratings in the nanocomposite films.
