Summary on Grant Application Form |
Use STM to study structures on surfaces of mixtures of low molecular weight organic liquid crystals and compare with bulk. Develop techniques for STM studies of side-chain polymer liquid crystal structures at surfaces and compare with bulk. Use STM to study block structures in copolymer liquid crystals. Study influence of substrates on orientation and structure of liquid crystals at surfaces. Apply photon STM to free liquid crystal surfaces.
