Summary on Grant Application Form |
This submission seeks funding to embark upon the next phase of our research on microstructure/property relationships in fibre reinforced metals. It continues an exploration of fundamental mechanisms concerning the synthesis and structure of these materials which was begun in 1987, and now focuses on the development of a new and improved metal matrix composite (MMC) by control of micromechanics via interface and matrix microstructure. As well as providing an improved composite, the research is aimed at further extending our knowledge base for this important class of materials.
