The aim of the project is to develop new methods for the synthesis of the active enantiomers of biologically active compounds using asymmetric synthesis. There are many scientific advantages to be obtained by the ready synthesis of enantiomerically pure compounds by reliable and predictable methods, especially in the investigation of the relationship of molecular structure and biological effect. In addition, separation of racemic mixtures and disposal of the undesired enantiomer are avoided, providing the potential for a reduction in chemical processing and potential undesired environmental effects.
