A joint collaboration. To link synthesis of novel liquid crystals to computer aided design of new materials. To create novel discotic (disk-like) materials and to examine the nature of their biaxiality by optical, x-ray and IR methods, and to predict this behaviour by computer simulation. To develop new computer simulation programs, to predict phase behaviour from molecular structures.
