Summary on Grant Application Form |
The prime objectives are to assess the non-linear optical properties of certain chalcogenide glasses (particularly those in the As-S system) and to improve the fabrication processes currently available for making integrated optical devices and circuits in these materials. The proposed programme will involve fundamental research such as studies of non-linear optical response and measurement of optical constants, and technological research, for example the development of improved etchants for creating surface relief structures in these glasses.
