Summary on Grant Application Form
The electron Physical Sciences Imaging Centre (ePSIC) at Diamond Light Source provides access to state-of-the-art electron microscopy instrumentation for the physical science community and the broad user base of Diamond. While ePSIC is housed within and operated by Diamond, it is not part of Diamond's core funding and the proposed core equipment is vital to keep the facility competitive, expand capabilities and continue to encourage collaboration and cross-cutting themes made possible by the co-location at Diamond.

This grant would provide a high-energy detector to enhance our capabilities in TEM and 4DSTEM imaging and enhance our ability to perform low-dose imaging in the study of beam-sensitive samples.

Our goals in this area would be further supported by the provision of state-of-the-art low-dose imaging through an arbitrary scan generator (via additional funding), and support for an advanced sample environment (via unmet funding) to enable and encourage further correlative studies between electron and X-ray instruments.

This equipment bid will broaden and strengthen our capabilities and activities in beam-sensitive materials, such as battery materials, perovskites, metal-organic frameworks, pharmaceuticals, and zeolites, and support both projects on site and in the wider Diamond user community.
