Summary on Grant Application Form |
We propose to add additional capacity to the Baskerville Tier 2 accelerated compute facility to both benefit existing users and to open up high performance computing to new research communities. This project will enable UK researchers to access the most powerful accelerated computing technologies currently available, enabling them to study more complex problems and analyse larger scale datasets than is possible at present. The project will lower the barrier to high performance computing, by providing a web-based interface to a range of research software that users from across UKRI's areas of activity will be able to access without needing specific expertise in high-performance computing. Finally, we will provide a suite of training materials to help researcher-developers to modify and optimise their tools for HPC platforms and especially for accelerated computing, and to make these materials freely available to support the ongoing development of UK research software and HPC.
