Summary on Grant Application Form
We are requesting funding to purchase a range of equipment with two main foci that support several areas of EPS research, namely analysis of Gases and Low Molecular Weight Chemicals and Materials Characterization.

Quantification of chemicals (gases, small molecules, ions) and physical characterization of materials are fundamental underpinning requirements for a huge range of engineering and physical sciences research. Investment in the equipment requested will therefore benefit a wide range of researchers working on EPSRC science across Newcastle University. Research of the highest international standards relies on high quality quantitative measurement and the equipment will provide this across the spectrum of EPSRC-relevant science, spanning energy research, climate change mitigation, decarbonization, catalysis, soft matter analysis relevant to biomedical engineering, water and waste treatment and the circular economy.
