Summary on Grant Application Form
Newcastle University has considerable strength and depth in research within the scope of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council portfolio.

Our researchers are world-leadiing in many areas of energy research, synthetic organic chemistry for drug discovery, environmental and water engineering for environmental protection and climate risk mitigation. Working with medical scientists and clinicians we also have key strengths in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Imaging, Synthetic Biology and Data Science for Health applications.

Much of this research activity is underpinned by world-leading state of the art analytical facilities. These support researchers working on novel catalysts, new materials for applications in energy generation and storage, developing the next generation of engineering technologies for environmental protection and driving the latest developments in medical physics and drug design and delivery.

This project will provide equipment that will be housed in managed multi-user facilities that underpin these innovative research activities.
