Summary on Grant Application Form
The University of Bath offers DTP funded opportunities for postgraduate research across the breadth of engineering and physical sciences, working on challenges of global significance. We have six strategic research themes: low carbon futures, sustainability, advanced materials and devices, healthy living, data and analysis, and digital media & visual technologies. Our postgraduate research programmes aim to attract cohorts of the very best students from across the world, to embed them in well-resourced and supportive environments in which they can confront the major issues facing our national and global communities, to develop their research abilities through a combination of skills development and training, and student-led research activity, and to graduate them as well-equipped and confident researchers capable of contributing to building the world of tomorrow. Our allocation of funding for the current year 2015/2016 was roughly 25% to Departments in the Faculty of Engineering and Design and 75% to Departments in the Faculty of Science (including Mathematical Sciences). Research in the strategic theme areas is spread across these Departments. Decisions affecting the allocation for 2016/17 will be confirmed by the end of October 2015 to facilitate the recruitment of high quality candidates.
