Summary on Grant Application Form
The recent explosion in genomic and structural biology together with the very promising results using embryonic cells, heralds the start of a whole new chapter in medicine. This has opened a real opportunity for synthetic chemists to be key players in shaping the development and future of the next generation of healthcare. However, this pivotal role can only be achieved through close collaboration with scientists in other areas, and through key innovations in synthetic design and methodology. As part of this fellowship programme, I would like to continue developing and expand some our recently established collaborations. There will be also be a focus however, on three research strands, which are united through an underlying theme on the efficient generation of novel compounds able to deliver the next generation of healthcare.
