Summary on Grant Application Form
Research has shown that mobile and ubiquitous systems can provide compelling user experiences based on the presentation of high quality new media content. However, to date there has been no significant research looking at how such media content can be systematically created, managed and presented in ubiquitous computing environments, i.e. what is the content production model for new media ubiquitous applications ? The Computing Department at Lancaster University aims to initiate a brand new program of high quality research in the area of tools and infrastructure support for new media content creation and management for ubiquitous systems. This proposal outlines the case for EPSRC funding for a senior visiting research scientist of international repute, Dr. Rodger Lea, who will act as a catalyst for this initiative. Dr. Lea will spend twelve months at Lancaster split over a four year period enabling a long term research relationship to be established.
