Summary on Grant Application Form
In this work co-axial jetting of viscous, dielectric suspensions and liquids will be performed. Alumina, zirconia and silica are used as examples of particulate materials. Thus, we shall attempt the simultaneous jetting of concentrated alumina and zirconia suspensions to produce zirconia encapsulated alumina and alumina encapsulated zirconia structures. Co-axial jetting of a viscous liquid (silicone oil is used as an example) and an alumina suspension will also be carried out to try and prepare a sheath of silicone oil encapsulating alumina particles. Thirdly, a print-patterning device developed in our laboratory will be used to produce co-axial jetting of two separate nano-suspensions, each containing a distinct particlesize of nano-silica, to pattern encapsulated structures.
