Summary on Grant Application Form
Ice accretions on rotor blades can change the aerodynamic performance of the vehicle to the extent that a crash is possible. A European effort to evaluate CFD predictions of iced aerofoil aerodynamics is to be continued in a Garteur working group, AG41. The current project will compute the three test cases in this working group to evaluate the performance of a nonlinear eddy viscosity type turbulence model. A grant of 3000 is requested to allow participation in the project meetings for making comparisons and evaluating results.
