Summary on Grant Application Form
The Chinese government and telecommunication industry are very keen to develop future B3G technologies, services and standards. Many top universities and research institutions in China have nurtured and accumulated a large amount of high-quality graduates and talented scientists working in this area. The huge potential markets and customer population offers China tremendous opportunity for playing a very important role in the international standardisation process of B3G systems. This INTERACT proposal aims at becoming fully connected with the top universities, research groups and companies that are playing key roles in the B3G R&D activities in China. This aim will be achieved through a 14-day trip to China. We will disseminate to the Chinese academic and industrial communities our original ideas, research results, future visions, methodologies, approaches, experiences, and contributions on the R&D of B3G systems through organising three workshops (in Hong Kong, Nanjing, and Beijing), visiting the leading telecommunication companies and research groups, touring their laboratories, and discussing all kinds of new collaboration opportunities.Upon the successful completion of above activities in our INTERACT programme, we will disseminate to the UK academic and industrial communities the state-of-the-art R&D plans, progresses and capabilities of B3G systems in China, the on-going funded projects and the R&D focuses of different research groups, new collaboration opportunities, and other related facts and findings through publishing a report (at the EPSRC website or programme newsletter Connect ), and delivering presentations at public seminars and the Committee Meetings at the BT Exact, EPSRC, IEE, Mobile VCE, and UK Next Generation Wireless Communications Network (UK-NGW).
