Summary on Grant Application Form
The project aims to appoint a manager for the Salford Centre for Research and Innovation (Salford IMRC) to: - Assist the The EPSRC funded Innovative Manufacturing Research Centre (IMRC) at Salford University (Salford Centre for Research and Innovation) was established in January 2002 by rolling in a number of existing EPSRC funded research projects, and generating a number of new activities/projects. The Centre assigned a director who has overall responsibility for delivering outputs according to the performance criteria set by EPSRC. This task necessitates extensive involvement both in strategy development and in operationalising this strategy. This task is significanity more demanding compared with traditional research projects and there is a need to assist this role by appointing a manager within the Centre. This position will enable the day to day management of the centre including researcher development and outreach activities including gearing of funding from other sources. This proposal seeks funding to appoint a manager for the the Salford Center for Research and Innovation (SCRI) to undertake the above role for the duration of the lifespan of the Centre with a start date of 01 September 2004. The University of Salford and the School of Construction and Property Management are prepared to contribute 40% of the costs of the appointment, hence requesting only 60% of the costs from EPSRC. The person taking the role of SCRI manager will be appointed within the School on a fixed term contract to reflect the duration of the Centre and the school will allocate this person to the SCRI Centre.
