Summary on Grant Application Form
This application seeks support for a Summer School in Catalysis to be held at the University of Liverpool, 12 / 16 September 2005. The Summer School will provide a broadening experience for students working on projects involving catalysis, introducing them to aspects of catalytic science, engineering and business outside their immediate research topic, and will also provide an opportunity for students to meet some of the leading catalyst scientists working in EC industries and Universities today. The Summer School will also provide a forum for students to present and discuss their own work with the lecturing staff and to form contacts/network with their peers and elders working in catalysis from throughout the EC catalysis community that should be of importance to them in their future careers. The Summer School builds on the successful series of University of Liverpool Summer Schools in Catalysis, which has been held successfully for several years. Applications from EPSRC funded PhD students to attend these Summer Schools has exceeded the number of available places in every year.
